CHILDREN’S ARTWORK SUBMISSION FOR THE EMBRACE EXHIBITION

As part of this special edition of Embrace, I would like to invite local Camden children to contribute original artwork exploring the themes of:

  • Hugging

  • Kindness

  • Connection & Community

Their work will be displayed in the gallery space, surrounding the immersive installation, and will also be viewable within the Embrace XR experience.

By combining digital immersion with children’s perspectives on connection, the project becomes a multi-layered exhibition about empathy, touch, and togetherness.

What to Create

  • A drawing on A4 or A3 paper (portrait or landscape)

  • Any medium: coloured pencils, markers, crayons, or paint

  • Add your child’s first name and age on the back only (for privacy)

How Embrace First Came to Life

Embrace was first developed in 2019 during my time at the New Museum’s NEW INC in New York. In that version, participants wore VR headsets and entered a fading virtual world where only connection could restore balance and life. Through simple gestures and shared presence, players helped bring light and colour back to the environment, discovering how empathy and awareness can transform not only virtual spaces but also how we relate to one another.

This year’s Camden edition builds on that foundation, introducing local children’s artwork to bring new layers of imagination and community into the experience.

🎥 Below are a few images and clips from the original installation to give a sense of what visitors will experience.
